Have you been working from home due to the pandemic? Do you feel like you are living at the office? Is there a blur between work life and personal life? It's time to create a routine to deal with the reality of remote working. Where you work and how you start and end your day can make a big difference to how you manage work/life balance. It could be the difference between adding more stress to an already stressful situation or enjoying your new "office."Create a WorkspaceYou already have a space to work in, but is it a good one? Now that you are (most likely) working from home through the spring, it's be time to re-evaluate. Ideally set up a space that can be dedicated to work. If you don’t have a home office, use a desk or table with a little privacy. If it’s a dining room table or other multi-use space, find a drawer, cupboard, or a dedicated box to keep your work items in and set up and break down at the end of the day. Think about your needs - lighting, comfort, plugs, proper erogonomics - and see what you can upgrade.Start Your DayDon’t log onto the computer the second you wake up! Take some time to yourself and get through your morning routine. Have coffee, step outside for a walk, read the news - those things you used to do before you showed up at the office. Now sit down and start your day.End Your DayMake a to-do list for tomorrow - this is a great way to let go for the evening.Shut down your computer and step away! Even if you have more work to do, get into the routine of leaving the "office" around 5 or 6pm to run errands, hit the home gym, or make dinner with your family. This will help to create some boundries and that routine of having a "work day."Try different approaches until you find a good fit for your space, family, and work.
