Healthy sources of vitamin C include: Bell peppers Tomatoes Strawberries Broccoli Cabbage Cauliflower Red cabbage Brussels sprouts Strawberries Citrus fruitsVitamin C May Improve Signs of Skin AgingResearch suggests that vitamin C supplementation may improve skin aging by restoring the appearance of wrinkles. Studies have also found that individuals who have a diet higher in vitamin C have fewer wrinkles! Vitamin C Helps Boost Skin CollagenVitamin C is one of the most essential nutrients for synthesizing collagen, a protein which keeps skin youthful, strong, elastic and hydrated. Collagen is critical to hair, muscle and skin health. However, collagen production decreases with age contributing to drooping skin. Consuming foods rich in vitamin C likely contributes to enhanced collagen production. Vitamin C May Prevent Skin Damage From Sun Exposure Research suggests that Vitamin C may prevent skin damage from UVB rays. Topically, vitamin C has been shown to be photoprotective. However, a small study found that oral supplementation with a combination of vitamin C and E also protects the skin from sun damage. There is a need for more studies to investigate whether this holds true with vitamin C supplementation or consumption alone.Enhance your skin health by consuming more vitamin C-rich foods.
