Healthy Travel Kit

Travel Tips
By Be Well Health Coach Jenny Sansouci

Keeping up with healthy habits may feel more difficult when you’re traveling – you’re out of your routine, you don’t have access to your normal foods, your sleep patterns may be off. Often times, our immune system gets compromised when we’re traveling — that’s why it helps to have a little travel kit of health-supporting goodies on hand. Pack these 8 things with you on your next trip to keep your energy levels high and your immune system rocking!

Oil of Oregano

Oil of oregano is known as “nature’s antibiotic.” It’s extremely anti-microbial, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial and is amazing for boosting the immune system. If you feel any kind of sickness coming on, whether it’s a cold or an upset stomach, just one drop of this potent oil (just one drop – the taste is very strong) in a glass of water can work wonders.

Daily Dose Packets

The Be Well Daily Dose packets include an arsenal of tools to boost the immune system – probiotics, vitamin D, fish oil and a multi-vitamin. I always bring a handful of these packets when I’m traveling to ensure I’m getting the vital nutrients I need.

Glass Water Bottle

Staying hydrated is one of the most important things you can do to keep yourself healthy. Having a glass water bottle on hand makes it more likely that you’ll keep drinking water throughout the day without spending your money on plastic bottles.

Essential Oils

Peppermint and lemon essential oils are great for waking you up and helping to prevent jet lag, and lavender essential oil is wonderful for relaxing at the end of the day. Put one drop of essential oil into a glass of water or tea, or simply breathe in the aromas.

Herbal Tea Bags

Since you never know what kind of food you’ll be eating on the road, it’s always a good idea to have ginger and peppermint tea bags on hand, both of which are excellent for digestion. Herbal tea is also fantastic for helping you relax and unwind before bedtime at the end of a long travel day.

Sleep Mask and Earplugs

Getting good sleep when you’re traveling will keep your immune system strong. It’s important to sleep in a dark, quiet room – so pack a sleep mask and earplugs to ensure you’re getting enough quality rest.

Greens Powder Packets

Greens help nourish every system in your body – they enhance your immune system, provide good bacteria for your gut, aid in digestion, sustain energy and promote mental clarity and overall well-being. Bring along a few Be Well Greens packets and add them to your water bottle for a nutritional boost.

If you do end up getting sick, andrographis is one of my favorite herbs for healing. It has anti-viral properties and can boost your immune system quickly.
