Foods to Avoid

  • All foods with refined sugar in them
  • Artificial sweeteners
  • Sodas, diet sodas
  • Fruit juice (unless freshly squeezed)
  • Anything labeled “quick” or “easy”
  • White rice
  • All quick-cooking rice, including quick-cooking brown rice
  • Any refined grain such as quick oats or boxed wild rice
  • Factory-made breads— most breads on the supermarket shelves
  • Bagels
  • Commercial breakfast cereals
  • Crackers and/or pretzels
  • Chips — all kinds—even organic corn or soy chips
  • Processed cheeses such as American, Velveeta, cream cheese, etc.
  • Frozen meals
  • Anything that says, “Single serving”
  • Most packaged snack foods
  • “Health” bars
  • Margarine
  • Fried food
  • Fast food
  • Factory-farmed meats
  • High-mercury fish
  • Anything with gluten in it
  • Dairy
  • Unfermented soy
  • Genetically modified foods (also known as GMOs)
  • Alcohol
  • Caffeine

So, for the time you are the Revive programs, try to avoid these foods completely.

And, once you’ve completed them, it would be wise to eat these foods only once in a great while. After a few days or weeks off sugar, processed foods, and gluten, you may notice that the food is not as satisfying or does not soothe you the way it once did. This is a great sign! Your body is moving back toward its natural rhythm.
