I am a 55-yr old woman whose Dexa scan has recently shown indications of osteopenia in my hip (not spine). I have been a milk drinker all my life and consume dairy products (milk or yogurt) every day. My vitamin D level is above 50. I take about 1000 mg of supplemental calcium and at least 500 mg of magnesium every day. What else can I do to halt bone loss?

I have breast calcifications and have been told to avoid soy among other things. I have been taking food based multi vitamins, most of which contain soy. Is this ok? If not, can you suggest a food based vitamin that I can take?

Thank ytou.

I like the adaptogen herbs in general and use them frequently. I have never seen that happen with Rhodiola but listen to your body as everyone is different. And I would try Ashwaghanda
one love
Frank

I would like to discuss the supplement Rhodiola Rosea, which I started taking in the middle of January. I was very successful with your program, having started the last week in October 2009. I have lost 15 lbs. and I feel great. I started taking the Rhodiola to see the effect it would have on my joints which were still bothering me. After 2 weeks, I skipped my period which was due. I am 51 years old but have always been regular so I wasn't sure what was the cause. I completed 1 month of Rhodiola (New Chapter rhodiola force 100mg 1x a day in the morning) and then I googled to see if anyone else had the same experience as I. I did find other women who also missed a period and also had an increase in stiff and sore joints. Of course I will discontinue to take the rhodiola, but I was wondering if you have had any other patients with similar responses to the rhodiola. Also, hopefully ( and I can't believe I'm saying this!) my period will return, because I would like to maintain my normal cycle until it is ready to stop on its own! And, after waiting for about 4 weeks, is it okay for me to try the Ashwaganda supplement? I understand it is also very good for sore joints. Please, I would really like to hear back from you. Thank you, Debra Bloom, Warwick, NY
