Alena Gerst (LMSW, RYT) is a certified yoga teacher and licensed counselor. After receiving her Bachelors degree in psychology from Northern Arizona University, she moved to NYC to pursue her dream of being on stage as a trained dancer in musical theatre. After 10 years of performing professionally, Alena was drawn to integrate her interests in mind-body wellbeing. Always with the keen body-awareness of a dancer, she has since made it her life’s work to help others discover the body’s innate wisdom to heal and be well. Alena provides mind/body focused psychotherapy at NYU Langone Medical Center at the Initiative for Women with Disabilities, and teaches therapeutic yoga at Beth Israel Medical Center in the oncology and general medicine units.
