I am the founder and director of the Eleven Eleven Wellness Center in New York City, where my personal blend of Western and many “other†medicines, what I call Good Medicine, has helped thousands of people recover their energy and zest for life.
I received my initial medical training is South Africa, qualifying in 1979. After working for a few years in rural South Africa and private practices in Johannesburg, my wife and I emigrated to the United States in 1984. I became board certified in internal medicine and served as Chief Medical Resident in my final year of residency at Lincoln Hospital in N.Y.C.
While practicing western medicine, I became more and more aware of both the weaknesses and strengths of my training. I then began to study acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, nutrition, Herbal Medicine, biofeedback, meditation and yoga. I subsequently initiated complementary therapies at Betances Health Unit and Gramercy Park Sports Medicine in NYC before founding the Eleven Eleven Wellness Center in 1992, where I practice what is being called Integrative Medicine, incorporating my knowledge of the many systems and modalities I have studied. The focus of the center is on preventive health care and patient education.
